Wasim says Pakistan squad lacks experience

SYDNEY: Former Cricket captain Wasim Akram on Wednesday said that Pakistan's squad for the World Cup lacks experience.

He said:''The selections have been made now, but if I were captain I would have insisted for more experience. This is the World Cup, not any other small tournament.''

The former fast-bowler said there were two Pakistani players with experience who had not been selected for the World Cup team.

He also said:“There's Shoaib Malik who has experience, while Sohail Tanveer can swing the ball and bat a bit as well.

Tanveer was in the running to replace injured pacer Junaid Khan, but newcomer Rahat Ali was chosen instead for the team.

“I do not know what went on inside [the board], but if I were the captain I would have considered experienced players,”he added.
