US defense Secretary Chuck Hagel Land in Kabul
KABUL:US defense secretary Chuck Hagel arrived in Kabul on Saturday visit to Afghanistan in the final weeks of Nato US led 13 year war against the Taliban.US defense secretary Chuck Hagel expressed confidence in the ability of Afghan forces to defend Kabul following a spike in Taliban Strikes.When he arrived in the Afghan Capital Kabul on Saturday for his final trip as Pentagon chief to Afghanistan.
Hagel unannounced visit came near end of the year in Afghanistan since the war against the Terrorism began in 2001.It also came just weeks before the official end of the Nato led combat mission and a sharp reduction in western forces.
Chuck Hagel told reporter before landing in Kabul where he is expected to discuss security in talks with Afghan leaders and US commanders :
""I have confidence that the Afghan security forces have the capacity and ability to defend Kabul.""
The US defense official travelling with Chuck played down the attacks;which led Kabul chief to offer his resignation last weekend.
Hagel told reporters before landing the Afghanistan had come a long way over the passed decade and the newly elected.Afghan Government and its army were ready to take charge as bulk of the international forces departs by the end of the month.
As of early November anout 4,600 members of the Afghan security forces killed in the year of 2014 more than 6 percent higher than the same period of 2013.
The Taliban have become very bold in their attacks and control several districts across the country where the many areas is still limited and poor security.
According to infrastructure Afghanistan is poor.Graft is rife.The economy relies mostly on foreign aid.
